2024: Unique, extreme weather conditions and a happy ending

The 2024 growing cycle once again showed how climate change has turned the world of agriculture upside down. The year was shaped by extreme weather conditions — from late frosts and hail to heat and heavy rains with flooding. Despite all these challenges, we owe a tremendous debt to the tireless work of our vignerons and a precisely planned harvest that brought in high-quality fruit. Read more here

The magazine has awarded us with the title of “Falstaff Winemaker of the Year 2024”, including highlights of the many changes here at Domäne Wachau in recent years — from a unique cooperative concept to the sustainable craftsmanship of our vignerons. World’s Best Vineyards: Top 50

Domäne Wachau is the only Austrian estate to earn a spot in the top 50 of the World’s Best Vineyards Awards 2024. As well as the quality of the wines, the overall performance, international recognition, brand strength and wine tourism activities of an estate are also judged. We are thrilled and honored to be considered among the best estates in the world.

Pure Terroir: Ried Loibenberg

A monument! Ried Loibenberg rises to 400 meters in elevation and is a landmark of eastern Wachau. Its 35 hectares of mostly terraced vineyards place it among the largest and most diverse sites in the region. The Loibenberg is composed primarily of Gföhler gneiss and is known for its spectacular topography. Grüner Veltliner and Riesling offer ideal reflections of this climatic and geological diversity.
