LUNGAROTTI BRINGS UMBRIA TO THE FESTIVE TABLE

av Livets Goda

The upcoming holiday season is the ideal time to get together and share a glass of good wine, perhaps discovering grape varieties from faraway lands. Like Umbria, Italy’s greenest region, a land of unique and pleasant wines that are ideal to be enjoyed together in good company. It is here that Lungarotti, a historic winery in Torgiano, a small village between Perugia and Assisi, produces Rubesco 62 and Torre di Giano 62, two iconic wines, created in 1962 and reimagined in 2025 to reflect a new contemporary style.

RUBESCO 62 – ROSSO DI TORGIANO DOC 2022
This is a dynamic and contemporary red wine that looks back on its origins, to a time when red wines would accompany daily meals, reflecting the slow pace of life in the small villages of Umbria. An emblematic expression of the Torgiano DOC appellation and the uniqueness of the local Sangiovese, it is dynamic and long on the palate without ever flaunting its delicate intensity. A juicy, intense and balanced red that pairs well with meat dishes.

TORRE DI GIANO 62 – BIANCO DI TORGIANO DOC 2024
A quintessential expression of the Bianco di Torgiano DOC appellation and of the region’s great vocation for balanced white wines, this is an elegant and contemporary wine made from Trebbiano and Grechetto grapes. Fresh and fragrant with a savoury finish. Ideal with exotic dishes, fish and white meats.

RUBESCO RISERVA VIGNA MONTICCHIO DOCG 2019
For a special dinner or to surprise someone with an important gift, there is Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio 2019, Lungarotti’s flagship wine, considered by critics to be among the best Italian wines. A 100% Sangiovese with great structure that displays a unique balance between power and elegance. Created in 1964, it is a wine that, in keeping with tradition, has evolved in style, reflecting the sensibility of the Lungarotti family.

The historic winery has always embodied profound values: family, territory and continuity. Umbria – a land of ancient craftsmanship, unspoilt landscapes and a slow pace of life – is at the heart of its narrative, not only as a physical place, but as a lifestyle to be shared with the world.
